Brenda (Portasica) Kephart grew up in the historic village of Medina, New York, one of four siblings and a proud graduate of Medina High School. From a young age, Brenda dreamed of sharing her love for BBQ with the world. Armed with a small Masterbuilt smoker and a big passion for flavor, she spent countless hours perfecting recipes in her backyard, with her family and friends as willing taste-testers.
In 2013, she took the first bold step toward making her dream a reality—driving 23 hours to Houston, Texas, to attend BBQ school. There, she learned the art of smoking meat “low and slow,” and returned home with a fire in her belly and a mission in her heart.
Brenda launched her B & B BBQ trailer right in Medina, where she proudly served up smoky goodness for five years. When it was time to grow, she and her husband Robert (Bob), along with their son Jim (assistant manager), and a tight-knit crew of family and friends, took on the challenge of transforming a Route 31 spot in nearby Middleport into a full brick-and-mortar location.
The restaurant kept its relaxed, down-home vibe, offering takeout, bar-style seating, and a few tables for casual dine-in experiences. Since their grand opening on Labor Day weekend, B & B BBQ has been serving up fan-favorite classics like ribs, chicken, brisket, and pulled pork—always smoked with love.
You’ll find all the fixin’s too: BBQ beans, coleslaw, potato salad, mac & cheese, broccoli salad, and both plain and jalapeño corn muffins. Feeling adventurous? Try the Brunswick Stew or the pulled pork wrap, packed with BBQ sauce, ranch, shredded cheddar, and a house-made jalapeño salsa. And don’t worry—hush puppies and sampler platters are on the way!
Brenda, Bob, and the entire B & B BBQ team are incredibly grateful for the brave men and women who serve in our military and law enforcement. As a small token of appreciation, any uniformed service member is always welcome to enjoy a meal on the house.
